37-year-old fined £600
A Ramsey man has been fined £600 after police caught him with cannabis just a fortnight after he was sentenced for possessing the drug.
Police searched Mark Peter Richards' home, on North Shore Road, on 3 September last year and found 3.3 grams of the Class B drug which had a street value of £66.
At Douglas Courthouse the 37-year-old admitted possession of it; Richards’ advocate told the court he’d been ‘self-medicating’.
Fining Richards, and ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £125, Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood told him he had a ‘large number’ of previous convictions for the same offence.
Noting that he was now obtaining the drug via prescription she added: “It’s clear that you’ve been a regular user of cannabis.”
