Driving without due care and attention charge admitted
A lorry driver with more than 30 years' experience behind the wheel has admitted driving without due care and attention.
Fifty-two-year-old Clive Billington of Bayr Cam in Douglas appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He admitted the offence after crashing the lorry he was driving into a car on Vicarage Road in Braddan on 16 July.
Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing Billington had been pulling out at a junction but spotted an oncoming bus.
Billington reversed his vehicle to let the bus driver past him, and then continued to pull out.
However, he hit the side of a car being driven by a woman behind the bus.
When questioned by police about the incident, he told them he thought he had right of way and the other driver should have seen his intention to pull out.
He was fined £500, ordered to pay £300 towards prosecution costs and magistrates also imposed six points on his driving licence.
