Casualty taken to Noble's hospital
A man was injured when a roof collapsed on a building site in Onchan this morning.
It happened at a development in King Edward Park, just after 9am.
The roof structure collapsed while the workmen were trying to put it up.
Fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene.
The paramedics worked to carry out an initial assessment of the casualty and secure him to a long board.
Fire crews made unsupported and loose elements of the building safe and prepared a route for the casualty to be taken out of the structure, through the scaffolding which surrounds it.
Once safely in the ambulance the man was taken to Noble's hospital for further treatment.
Fire officers were there until around 10.15am, treating another workman who had suffered minor cuts and abrasions, and liaising with a member of the Health and Safety at Work Inspectorate.
