37-year-old back in jail for 13 weeks
Magistrates have jailed a man who assaulted prison guards as he was waiting to be released.
Thirty-seven-year-old Alistair John Cowin, whose address was given as the Isle of Man Prison, appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
At an earlier hearing, he'd pleaded guilty to two assaults on peace officers.
Prosecution advocate Barry Swain told the court Cowin had been in the prison's reception area at 8am on 9 June.
As he was about to be released, Cowin became aggressive because he couldn't find any clean clothes.
He grabbed one prison officer by his neck, before punching another in the face.
Magistrates said assaulting the guards on the day of his release was not good enough.
After hearing he had an extensive criminal record, they imposed a 13-week jail term.
