A man who said he’d drunk only two bottles of beer but refused to give a sample of breath, urine or blood has been jailed.
Andrew Peter Corkill of Brookhill Road in Ramsey appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes this week.
The 38-year-old admitted failing to provide a specimen on 6 January.
The hearing was told he’d been arrested after appearing unsteady on his feet when police stopped him.
But at police headquarters, he said he couldn’t be breathalysed because he was asthmatic and a doctor found him unfit to give a blood sample.
He flatly refused to give a urine sample and so was charged with the offence.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said the crime was a serious one and jailed Corkill for eight weeks, banning him from the roads for five years.
