Further berthing trials to take place over next week
Manannan needs ‘minor modification’ to ensure it can accommodate the passenger access system at the new Liverpool ferry terminal.
The work will be carried out on the Island to the port side ‘superstructure’.
The vessel will return to service tomorrow (22 March) but sailing times have been changed to allow for further berthing trials to take place.
The Douglas to Liverpool crossing will depart at 4pm with the return crossing leaving at 8pm rather than 7.15pm.
Manannan berthed at the new ferry terminal for the first-time last week.
The subsequent trials are a mandatory safety procedure which will enable captains to become accustomed to the new berth at all tide levels.
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company says the boat has had a ‘spring refurbishment’ including a new children’s play area and larger shop.
