Destination could be contingency option
Fast craft vessel Manannan is trialling Holyhead Port as a back-up harbour.
It follows a successful berthing trial by the Ben-my-Chree last month to ensure there's a contingency plan if there's no access to Liverpool or Heysham.
The Steam Packet Company is looking to prevent inconvenience for passengers and freight customers.
Passengers won't be affected between June 29 and 30 when Manannan sails into the North Wales harbour.
If it proves effective, there'll be the option of a shorter two-hour trip from the Isle of Man to the 24-hour lock-free port.
