Peel Commissioners offer an extra six dates for events

Mannin Music has confirmed that a trial of a stage on Peel Beach has been given the 'go ahead' from the relevant authorities.

The shop says that Peel Commissioners have supported an extension of the number of events - from six to 12 - during the summer months.

It's been the centre of a dispute between the local authority and one of its members about whether a vote to trial the stage was carried out in its February meeting.

Commissioners Katryna Baptist and Stuart Hardingham disagreed with the set of published minutes which said no vote had taken place.

The vote, which was to have the stage on the beach, was carried by 6-1 and witnessed by Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall and the Local Democracy Reporter.

At the end of March Mannin Music shared concerns that the stage may not be in place for TT week saying it was awaiting a confirmation letter from the commissioners to continue with the license applications.

However the shop is now asking residents for ideas for events and performances they'd like to see as well as encouraging local bands and buskers to contact them.

It says there are already plans in place for six of the planned events.
