Sean Jackson raising money for England team heading to World Cup
A top disability athlete, from the Isle of Man, is taking on a new challenge in support of the sport that he loves.
Manx amputee footballer Sean Jackson is running the Manchester Half Marathon this Sunday (4 October).
As well as using this as a chance to push himself, he's doing it to raise funds for the England national amputee football team he plays for to help them get to the World Amputee Football Federation World Cup, in Mexico, in November.
He told Manx Radio he also wants to make sure the sport has a strong, long-term future:
Jackson is set to captain the England team at the World Cup which will take place in San Juan de los Lagos from 13-22 November.
A GoFundMe campaign is ongoing, aiming to raise funds to help the national side with their campaign in South America - so far, that fundraiser has generated more than £60,000 in donations.
Jackson has previously represented England at the WAFF World Cup in Turkey in 2022 and at club level has enjoyed success in recent years with his current club, Everton and, before that, Manchester City.
This year's Manchester Half Marathon is due to get underway from 8.50am with multiple groups setting off at different, staggered start times.
