No routine screening programme for disease on Island
Manx Care could consider running an awareness raising programme around the symptoms of prostate cancer.
That’s the view of the chief executive who says it is something she will discuss with the Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health.
The Isle of Man, like the United Kingdom, does not have a routine screening programme for the disease.
John contacted Manx Radio to highlight difficulties with getting a PSA test – a test which is used to measure the amount of prostate-specific antigen in the blood.
He revealed his younger brother had struggled to get the test from his GP despite a family history of the disease – he was later confirmed to have prostate cancer.
