Permission being sought from UK authorities after trial
The fishing industry on the Isle of Man is pressing UK authorities for permission to fish for herring again.
The Manx Fish Producers Association says it’s not about making money but, instead, about allowing boats to diversify when they can’t fish for scallops.
A trial resulted in 20 tonnes of herring being caught.
David Beard is the head of the association and says they need approval for regular herring fishing to continue:
