Channel Island ministers condemn move
The right to fish in Manx waters could be negotiated by the UK without the consent of the government here.
It's after a clause was added to the UK Fisheries Bill, allowing the British government to impose fishing rules on the self-governing Crown Dependencies.
The bill was approved by the House of Lords this week (Nov 13) and will now go for Royal Assent.
According to BBC Guernsey, a UK government spokesperson said the clause would 'only be used in exceptional circumstances following full consultation'.
Ministers in the Channel Islands have criticised the move as a violation of the Crown Dependencies' constitutional rights.
The Manx government has been contacted for a response.
