But post office maintains they are 'good value'
A 10 per cent rise in the cost of Manx stamps will come into force on 4 April.
They will go up from 67p to 73p.
Letters destined for Europe and the majority of the rest of the world will increase by three per cent – letters heading to Australasia will rise by 18 per cent.
Parcelforce and ancillary services, such as Redirect and Keepsafe, will be subject to a six per cent increase.
In the UK the Royal Mail has hiked its first class stamps to 95 pence.
Chris Thomas is the chair of the Isle of Man Post Office and said: "A nearly 10 per cent stamp price rise this year is needed to protect our first class postal service for letter mail and parcels.
"Like so many businesses the post office is feeling the pinch of increased operating costs for instance the cost of the mail plane has risen by 23.8 per cent given the increased cost of petrol and oil."
