Manx Telecom announces 3.5% price increase

Tariffs to rise in light of 'mounting inflationary pressures'

Manx Telecom has announced an upcoming 3.5 percent price increase.

The company says it's 'necessary' in light of 'ongoing, mounting global and national inflationary cost pressures'.

The Isle of Man's consumer inflation rate increased in May to 2.6 percent, up from 2.3 percent in April.

Manx Telecom's increase, to be applied to most products, will come into effect from 1 August.

A summary of the 3.5% or specific tariff increases that apply, excluding VAT, from 1 August are as follows: 

• Fixed line rentals with no copper broadband service.
• Fixed lines utilising a Copper Broadband service will increase by 3.5% in addition, a further wholesale increase  of £4.00 is applied to this service.
• All call setup charges increase from 23p to 24p, this applies to Talk Over Fibre, Talk Only, and SIP/VoIP tariffs.
• Fixed call charge rates to all destinations increase by 1p or 3.5% whichever is greater.
• All live and legacy Broadband (Copper xDSL and Fibre FTTP) tariffs. In addition, a further wholesale adjustment applies, for Copper Broadband this is a £2.00 reduction, for Fibre Broadband this is a £1.00 increase. 
• Mobile tariffs, including Smart, Essential and MyFamily also mobile out of bundle call, data and SMS charges. 
• All Intelligent Voice hosted VoIP tariffs and services. 
• Paper billing charges increase by £0.50 to £4.00, please note a free e-Bill option continues to be available. 
• Enhanced Service Care Levels 

General Exclusions:

• Operator, Directory Enquiry and Information Services (e.g. Speaking Clock) are not impacted. 
• The UK operator portion of non-geographic fixed and usage-based services are not impacted.
• Low User Choice tariff rental, our social inclusion tariff, is not impacted. 
• Inclusive call periods are not impacted.
• Router deferred payment and rental charges are not impacted.

Manx Telecom says it's made every effort to keep the increase to a minimum and will continue to honour current prices up until the end of July.

With a month to go, customers have a right to terminate their ongoing contracts, if they wish.
