Manx Utilities spends £3.1m on consultants for Cair Vie wind farm project

The figure reflects the total spend as of the end of April

Manx Utilities has spent more than £3.1 million on consultancy fees as part of the Cair Vie onshore wind farm project.

The figure, revealed from a response to a Freedom of Information request, covers environmental, legal, planning, technical, financial, and communications consultants.

The total spend equates to £3,138,932.97.

The organisation is carrying out an environmental impact assessment at Earystane and Scards to determine how the proposals could be implemented responsibly, should the project proceed.

Pressure group 'Cair Vie Resistance' recently called for the project to be halted over ecological concerns.

This year, Manx Utilities is expected to produce a Clean Air Act, submit a planning application, open a public consultation, and begin additional monitoring required by planning regulations towards the end of 2025.

In 2026, the organisation anticipates starting a development phase.
