Sponsors sought to help Scran attend the Music for Youth Proms

A group of talented young musicians from the Island are set to perform at the Royal Albert Hall later this year.

Scran, whose members are between the ages of 13 and 17, is described as a 'Manx supergroup' and is heading to the Music for Youth Proms in November.

The event will feature more than 1,200 young musicians from across the UK and further afield.

Alyth Braithwaite plays the harp and Daniel Cross plays the guitar:

Dr Chloe Woolley, Culture Vannin's Manx Music Development Officer, explains that it's not the first time that the Isle of Man has been represented at this event:

The group is seeking sponsors to help cover the costs of attending the event.

Culture Vannin says: 'We are extremely proud of what the group have achieved and we are very excited to see how they will grow through the experience.

'That’s why we’re inviting sponsors, donors, and partners to join us. By helping cover the travel and accommodation costs, you’ll be making this once-in-a-lifetime dream a reality and putting Manx culture centre stage.

'Scran will represent the Isle of Man on opening night, bringing traditional Manx music to an international audience.

'As a project of Culture Vannin, the charity has supported Scran from the beginning through mentoring, providing rehearsal space, and coordination.

'But this extraordinary opportunity — taking Manx music to the Royal Albert Hall — goes beyond our regular budget.'
