Craftsman hits back at skill doubts
An Island stonemason has rejected claims the Island 'lacks the expertise' to restore the registered features of the Castle Mona.
Ian James Clanton - better known as HM the Sole - is studying the building as part of his PhD thesis, and made the comments earlier this week.
Now Neil Cheetham of family-run Stonecraft Limited says many Manx craftsmen would 'relish the opportunity' to work on the building.
The two registered features in the Castle Mona comprise a saloon ceiling, and Arran-stone exterior masonry.
Mr Cheetham says there's no shortage of specialist expertise here.
