New plans seek building consent
Demolition of another Douglas guesthouse is under consideration by planning officers.
An application has been lodged to replace the derelict Marina Hotel with nine residential apartments.
Westminister Associates Limited, which owns the building and the adjacent Cubbon House, intends to include basement office units as part of the conversion along Loch Promenade.
The Marina has laid empty for some time, with proposals to develop the building approved in May 2017.
Regular work has been undertaken whilst it has been out of use to maintain the integrity of the 150-year-old guesthouse, however its exposed location has rendered it in an unstable condition of decay with severe internal defects.
Quantity Surveyors Robert & Graham Co have reviewed the initial conversion plans, deciding a full six-storey development would be extremely difficult.
The proposed demolition now requires building consent.
