Public meeting saw concerns highlighted over impact of lack of parking

An Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK says the pedestrianisation of Market Square has 'split' the town.

It comes after a public meeting was held about Castletown Commissioners' decision to close it to vehicles during the winter months as well as in the summer.

Concerns were raised that there hadn't been any consideration given to residents who have a disability, no public consultation and there being no thought for the traders.

Tim Glover says there's been a lack of consultation, and communication, between the local authority and the residents.

Richard Ronan, one of the organisers, believes the meeting was 'largely constructive'.
