Cuts made despite new responsibilities
Marown Commissioners have reduced their rates for the coming year.
They've been set at 150p in the pound for the coming year, down from 155p.
The Commissioners say the cuts have been made despite taking on responsibility for street cleaning, gulley emptying and maintaining hedges.
They add that representatives from local authorities across the Island have worked with the Government regarding charges incurred from the Energy From Waste Plant and it's claimed they can take the credit for stopping an extra £3 million being put on to Island-wide rates.
