Mr and Mrs O'Sullivan start fight with couple using taxi in Douglas
A wedding anniversary which ended in a fight at a taxi rank has landed a married couple in court.
Thirty-five-year-old Padraig Eoin O’Sullivan and 41-year-old Jenna O’Sullivan of Spring Valley in Douglas appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
They both pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, and Mr O’Sullivan has pleaded not guilty to using threatening language and an assault on a police officer.
Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon said shortly after midnight, a couple got into a cab at the taxi rank on Victoria Street in Douglas – but the man left to get money from a cashpoint.
When he returned, the O’Sullivans were threatening his girlfriend who was in the back of the cab – and when he told them the taxi was taken, Mr O’Sullivan threatened to drag them out of it.
The court heard both then leaned into the taxi to throw punches at their terrified victims before police arrived.
The couple had been out celebrating their wedding anniversary and had both drunk ten pints of lager before carrying out the attack.
Mrs Hughes granted bail to both, and they'll appear in court on 22 September.
