'Best workers will leave, rest will remain' says Union boss
Re-introducing the MARS redundancy scheme will result in the best staff leaving the Island's health service, according to a union boss.
Eric Holmes from Unite says it's clear the Department of Health and Social Care needs to cut back management structures, but not with the 'Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme'.
He claims it encourages workers with ability to take the package and find new jobs, but those with less skills to remain.
This week the Department announced it would look to reduce staff numbers by bringing back the scheme, which was last used by the Department of Infrastructure five years ago.
