Peter Washington chosen as new Deputy Mayor
The current Mayor of Douglas will continue in her role, but she will be joined by a new Deputy Mayor.
Natalie Byron-Teare chose Councillor Peter Washington to work alongside her for the next year.
She was re-elected unanimously and was nominated by former mayor Janet Thommeny who said she will promote the city with 'respect'.
Mrs Thommeny added that she has shown 'great commitment engaging with all members and sectors of the community, promoting inclusivity and charity’.
Councillor Byron-Teare says she will be continuing with her 'community engagement' theme.
Councillor Washington was on the Environmental Services and Housing Committee before taking on the position.
Mr Washington said he's looking forward to learning from Councillor Byron-Teare.
They spoke to Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper after the ceremony:
The Mayor of Douglas will be supported by her husband Andrew Teare, whilst Kristina Washington will serve as Deputy Mayoress.
Reverend Monsignor John Devine will serve a second term as the Mayor's Chaplain.
