Minister, MHKs and MNH officials in attendance
A crisis summit meeting to discuss the future of Douglas Promenade’s horse trams is taking place today.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne is heading the meeting of MHKs, Douglas councillors, tourism and transport officials, Manx National Heritage and Culture Vannin.
It’s after Douglas Council announced last week it couldn’t afford the annual losses of £263,000 and was planning to scrap the service.
Yesterday (Tues) in the House of Keys, MHKs voted to set up a committee that would look into how the trams might be saved.
