One man arrested, a second man fled scene
A member of the public has been thanked for helping to stop the theft of a van in Douglas last night (25 August)
Police, including several officers and a police dog, were called to the Groves Road and New Castletown Road area on Wednesday at around 10.15pm.
Officers have confirmed a man was detained by a member of the public after stealing a white mercedes van from outside a property in the area.
The man has since been arrested and is helping with enquiries.
Meanwhile, a second man who was also in the stolen vehicle ran from the scene towards Quarterbridge.
Police are still trying to identify him.
Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to get in touch with the constabulary.
