Plans announced after campaign by Ballakermeen students
A nurse described as the Florence Nightingale of the Isle of Man is to be recognised with a memorial garden at Noble's Hospital.
Nelly Brennan, who treated patients during the cholera outbreak, will be recognised following a campaign by pupils at Ballakermeen High School.
The students learnt about her work as part of the Year of the Nurse, and made a presentation to Health Minister David Ashford and staff from the Keyll Darree training centre, calling for her to be honoured.
These youngsters were delighted after hearing work on the garden will get underway next year:

Consultation open on plans to formally recognise the heritage of Douglas Head
Drop-in session to support Isle of Man charities
Fundraiser to keep St John Ambulance emergency fleet on the road
Ayre and Michael MHKs request meeting with commissioners over rates
