
Island beach cleaning group Beach Buddies is to launch a new campaign urging parents not to flush baby wipes down the toilet.
Sack fulls of soiled wipes were collected by volunteers on the beaches of Ramsey recently, along with large quantities of sanitary towels and cotton buds.
Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale is calling on local supermarkets to urge customers buying baby wipes to thrown in the bin, not flush them away.
Bill says parents seem to regard the wipes like toilet paper - but he says they don't disintegrate and aren't being caught in sewage filters:
