Mental health campaigner to walk Raad-ny-Foillan in Crocs

'BackpackBoz' to visit the Island in August

A mental health campaigner is set to walk the Island's coastal footpath next month all while sporting a pair of Crocs!

Callum Ball, otherwise known as 'BackpackBoz', will be walking from his home in Liverpool, onto the ferry, before taking on the Raad-ny-Foillan.

His 120-mile adventure is in aid of the charity James' Place and in memory of his close friend Connor Laverty who recently took his own life.

Callum explained why he does what he does...and why he does it in Crocs:

Callum will be taking on his 'Way of the Gull Mission' between 10-16 August.

He told Manx Radio: "BackpackBoz is an adventure-led mental health movement built on one simple belief: The world is bigger than the place people often feel trapped in.

"Through endurance expeditions, community projects and mental health initiatives, my mission is to encourage people to keep moving forward—physically and mentally."

Other expeditions he's taken on include a 2,000 mile trek across America wearing Crocs, raising awareness for men’s mental health, and completing the Welsh 3000s and numerous endurance walking and mountain challenges across the UK and internationally.

He's also on the lookout for a small number of businesses to become official expedition partners.

Since putting out an appeal on social media, earlier this month, Callum says they've been taken aback by the generosity of the people of the Isle of Man.

"We've had so many donations, offers of accommodation, food, places to stop and camp.

"We just want to thank everyone so much."
