Union calls for education department to take action
Education bosses won't be able to 'stem the exodus' of teachers leaving the profession if more isn't done to improve their mental health.
That's the fear of one teaching union after a Freedom of Information request revealed more than 3,500 workdays were missed on the Island in the last academic year - a rise of more than 1,000 compared to the previous 12 months.
Geraldine O'Neill from the NASUWT says pay, conditions and workloads are all causing stress for teachers.
She wants to see the Department of Education, Sport and Culture tackle the issue:
