Met Office confirms sweltering July

Unprecedented heatwave for Island

It was a remarkable month of weather in July.

Ronaldsway Met Office has released its latest monthly figures, which show temperatures were near-constantly 'well above normal'.

An average July would see five days reach above 20° Celsius.

This July, we enjoyed fourteen.

The hottest of those was on 2 July, when temperatures reached 26.4°C at Ronaldsway.

Nighttime temperatures also hovered above 10°C for the whole month.

There were 19 consecutive days without a drop of rain, from 21 June to 9 July.

Across May June and July combined, it was the driest for this period since 1989.

There were 214 hours of bright sunshine, which is 18 more than the July average.

We also avoided all the thunderstorms and hail of the adjacent isles.
