MGP/Classic TT may attract fewer people compared to TT, but 'demand does not change'

Fifteen cases presented to the emergency department

Figures published by Manx Care revealed it spent an additional £134,075 during the extended 12-day Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT.

For the first time since 2019, the event returned to a longer format.

The health body says while it attracted fewer visitors when compared to the Isle of Man TT Races, the demand on the health service remains the same.

Fifteen cases presented to the emergency department at Noble's Hospital with 22 patients requiring admission and two individuals being airlifted to Aintree in Liverpool.

Manx Care says the increased figure is as a result of increased locum clinicians brought in to support the event, ambulance and hospital as well as for the hire of the helicopter used to access areas that cannot be accessed during road closures.
