MGP: Schedule shake-up as rain hits course

Crossing points opening for brief period

**UPDATE 1:30PM - FURTHER DELAY, SCHEDULE BELOW AMENDED AS APPROPRIATE**

Manx Grand Prix organisers have issued an updated schedule as bad weather has hit parts of the course today.

Today's warm-up lap has been cancelled.

The races will be run 'when conditions are fit to do so'.

Crossing points around the course are beginning to open and will remain so until 1:10pm.

The current schedule is:

  • 2:30pm - a number of riders will head out on 'course inspection laps'.
  • 2:40pm - Sidecar test - 1 lap
  • 2:45pm - MV Agusta demonstration with Dave Roper will take place.
  • 3:30pm - the Senior race will take place over the planned four laps
  • 5:10pm - Sidecar test - 1 lap
  • 5:45pm - the RST Classic Superbike race will head out at 5:30pm over four laps.

The statement in full below:

'Clearly weather conditions aren’t as good as originally expected.

'We want to give competitors the best possible course conditions for racing and, if possible, preserve full race distances.

'As the roads are now closed, we are doing to take the opportunity to run our MV Agusta demonstration lap and a course inspection lap to give conditions more time to improve.

'With all the factors considered, we have decided to cancel today’s warm up lap.

'We will run the races when conditions are fit to do so, and if we have to delay further this may result in a reduction in race duration.'
