Cost of starting-out is 'prohibitive' for many says Moorhouse
An MHK is calling for government to look at introducing a new ‘bond’ to help people set-up in their first rental home on the Isle of Man.
Arbory, Castletown and Malew member Jason Moorhouse believes it could encourage people to stay on, or return to, the Island.
It comes after a former student of his highlighted how they needed to find £2,000 to take on a private tenancy agreement – for the deposit, first month’s rent and the set-up of utility services.
It’s something the MHK – who has raised the idea with the Cabinet Office - says is ‘prohibitive’:
