An MHK is calling for action to be taken to sort out the public pensions problem once and for all.
Alf Cannan says every month and year that there is a delay makes the situation worse.
He says the cost is rising exponentially.
Three years ago it stood at around £24 million, this year Mr Cannan says it will be around £40 million.
This week he will call on Tynwald to draw up appropriate legislation to make future schemes affordable and sustainable.
Speaking on this morning's Mandate, Mr Cannan said other jurisdictions had set a good example on this issue.
