Johnston raises issue in discussion over balanced diets
An Ayre and Michael MHK has claimed that some teachers are telling children to go 'meat free to save the planet'.
Tim Johnston, a farmer and former president of the Manx National Farmers' Union, made the suggestion in the House of Keys.
He was asking the Education Minister Julie Edge a question on balanced diets in Island schools.
Mr Johnston said it appeared that some staff were underlining their own beliefs in climate change by encouraging young people to give up meat:
