An MHK is defending a political colleague who accused government of panicking people over the National Insurance fund.
Earlier this month, senior ministers warned the fund could collapse in around 20 years time, potentially jeopardising state pensions and benefits.
However, Michael member Alf Cannan believes the real issue that government needs to tackle is the growing public sector pension liabilities.
That prompted criticism from new Minister for Policy and Reform Chris Robertshaw and Treasury Minister Eddie Teare.
But South Douglas member Kate Beecroft says Mr Cannan’s stance is justified.
