MHK fears efficiencies report will be 'big on headlines, low on detail'

First annual report expected by the end of this month

An MHK believes government will struggle to meet its savings targets because it struggles to make difficult decisions.

Ramsey member Lawrie Hooper asked for an update on the Efficiencies Programme in this week's sitting of Tynwald.

Announced at the 2024 Government Conference, the scheme aims to identify £50million savings over a five-year period.

Chief Minister Alfred Cannan confirmed £4million of savings has been identified in the first year, £2million of which will be recurring.

He also told the court the first annual report into the scheme will be published by the end of this month:
