Select Committee's aim was to scrutinise government decision
MHK Daphne Caine has responded to claims made by the chief minister following the Syrian refugee debate, branding them 'insulting'.
In defence of government's stance to block a Tynwald investigation into the matter, Howard Quayle said the member for Garff's intention was to undermine the Council of Ministers, labelling the prospect of a select committee a 'smokescreen.'
The comments have not sat well with Mrs Caine, who took to Twitter to clarify her motives.
'I sought to establish the facts regarding the Island's overseas aid policy' evidence of which, she says, is still not in the public domain.
Insisting it was not a 'smokescreen' to overturn CoMin, she tweeted it was in fact a means of scrutinising the decision of the Isle of Man government.
