Matter to be raised in Tynwald
South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft says she’s hopeful a new pricing structure announced by Manx Gas could be the straw that broke the camel’s back on energy regulation.
On Tuesday in Tynwald, she’ll ask Chief Minister Allan Bell whether a voluntary regulation agreement signed by Manx Gas, the OFT, the Department of Economic Development and the Treasury is government policy.
She says the Office of Fair Trading has proved to be toothless when it comes to intervening over energy prices.
But she’s now hopeful public anger over the latest price changes may mean stronger regulation:
