Period Products (Free Provision) Act 2026 to be sent for Royal Assent

A local campaign group has thanked the MHK behind the Period Products (Free Provision) Act 2026 which was signed in Tynwald this week.

Joney Faragher's Private Members Bill will see free period products made available in public toilets Island wide.

The Douglas East member took on the cause after the Manx Menstrual Movement, which was established by Nicki Gaskell and Rhian Evans in 2024, called for legislation similar to that seen in Scotland.

Having researched the Scottish bill the group approached Ms Faragher with the idea and she agreed to take it on.

The MMM says it means the Island is 'another step closer to eradicating period poverty and inequality'.

Joney Fargher has confirmed she is seeking re-election in Douglas East in September's General Election.

The other candidates standing are Dave Mackey and Andrew Saunders.
