Decision made by management due to reduced demand
The National Sports Centre's fitness zone will have reduced weekend evening hours from 4 January due to lower demand.
The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says the impact on users will be 'minimal' and full-time staff will not be affected.
In the House of Keys this week some politicians questioned whether the move was driven by cost-saving measures but Minister Daphne Caine did not directly address the issue.
Onchan MHK Rob Callister also raised concerns about whether the reduced hours contradict the Island Plan’s focus on promoting physical and mental wellbeing.
