The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has been seeking one despite having 12 staff members employed in environmental health.
Onchan MHK Julie Edge raised the issue in this week's sitting of the House of Keys and was told further details would be released in a sitting next month.
She told Manx Radio it’s important to have a full picture of what's happening:
Ms Edge has declared her intention to stand in the upcoming General Election - the other candidates who’ve also declared are sitting MHK Rob Callister, Gabriella Corkish, Rachel Glover and Oliver Lockwood.
