Bilingual students small in numbers
Around six and a half per cent of pupils in Island schools have English as an additional language.
That works out as 690 out of around 10,600 pupils.
The figures, revealed in the response to a Tynwald question for written answer, include the full range of capabilities, from children who are absolute beginners to ones who are fluent in the language.
Of the primary schools, more than a quarter of Henry Bloom Noble's pupils are classed as such (28%), whereas Andreas, Ballaugh, Dhoon, Foxdale, Jurby and Manor Park don't have any.
In the secondary schools, Ballakermeen has the highest percentage (11%), and Castle Rushen the lowest (2%).
