Dr Haywood hopes to introduce Private Members' Bill
A member of the House of Keys wants stringent new controls on the sale of tobacco products to young people.
At Tuesday's sitting of the House, member for Rushen, Dr Michelle Haywood, is to seek leave to introduce a Private Members' Bill with the aim of closing loopholes in the current legislation, which allow the sale of a number of tobacco based products.
Dr Haywood also wants a complete ban on the sale of tobacco and nicotine products to people born on or after the 1 January 2008:
Just last month laws came into force on the Isle of Man making it illegal to sell or supply vaping products to anyone under the age of 18.
