Frank Schuengel posted the update on Facebook after receiving a response from Treasury Minister Alex Allinson.
For residents with a British or European passport, a visa is not required to travel to Europe for short visits of less than 90 days.
However, South Africans, Filipinos, Chinese and other nationalities on the Island are required to apply for a Schengen visa in order to travel to Europe.

Last month, Mr Schuengel posted about the difficulties of having to travel into the UK for visa appointments and emailed all MHKs.
In his response, the Ramsey MHK said he will discuss the issue with the Department for Enterprise and see if it can engage with agencies to increase the availability of visa services and biometric recording on the Island.
