Shimmins points to upturn in the rest of the British Isles
The Isle of Man missed out on what could have been a bumper tourism year in 2017 according to Middle MHK Bill Shimmins, and he wants to know why.
In Tynwald this week he will ask the Enterprise Minister why our visitor figures showed a marked decline compared to the rest of the British Isles.
Mr Shimmins says European visitors flocked to other parts of Britain last year keen to make the most of the devaluation of sterling following the Brexit vote.
But the Isle of Man did not benefit and Mr Shimmins wonders if it's because we need to update the way we promote the Island.
