
West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas says he hopes the minimum wage will continue to rise as promised by Economic Development Minister John Shimmin.
Yesterday Mr Shimmin won Tynwald’s backing for a 3.2 per cent rise in the minimum wage, to £6.40 an hour.
He said he'd continue to increase the minimum wage to reward those who are in work, as well as to encourage the unemployed to find a job.
Mr Thomas says although he welcomes the increase, it’s still not enough given the high cost of living on the Island:
