Rise of 50p to £7.50 per hour
The minimum wage in the Isle of Man will increase from 1 June.
That's after Tynwald approved a hike for employees aged 25 and over in line with the UK.
Under the new proposals, workers will receive an hourly rise of 50p, to £7.50 per hour.
East Douglas MHK Chris Robertshaw, a long-time supporter of a higher minimum wage, asked for a month-long adjournment and said more consideration was needed for the hospitality sector who had long agreed their contracts for the season.
However, he failed to receive support.
Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly said the move would help ensure the Island remained competitive in the jobs market.
