Researchers declare fund 'a waste of money'
Recent news surrounding England's Cancer Drug Fund shows government was right to bin the idea here on the Isle of Man.
That's according to Health and Social Care Minister Kate Beecroft - who was in favour of having a similar fund on Island in the last administration, but says she has since changed her mind.
Researchers at King's College London declared the fund a "waste of money" after reports over 100,000 patients may have suffered unnecessarily as a result.
Lead researcher Professor Richard Sullivan says it was lead by political populism - adding that UK healthcare professionals should have spoken out against it.
