Denies going against public opinion following survey results
The minister in charge of the Gaiety Theatre has defended making changes at the historic venue which will allow people to drink alcohol in their seats.
From February next year the licensing area is being expanded which will allow theatregoers more freedom in where they consume a beverage.
That’s despite a survey, run by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture, showing the majority of people were not in favour of the decision.

Daphne Caine says the question, amongst a number of others, was designed to assess the direction the theatre should take in future and denies they’ve gone against public opinion.
